Paris 2012 - Monday Louvre Dutch Masters

We rejoined our friends from Context Travel to tour the Louvre Dutch and Flemish Masters. Our docent, Lorraine Audric, is especially knowledgable as she studied at the Louvre. We also enjoyed her tour a few years ago at the Pompidou. Our tour started in the 15th Century and followed artist moving past the renaissance period up to Rembrandt and Rubens. Art followed prosperous times with many brilliant works being created for reliable patrons. Introduction of oil paints allowed for amazing detail to be added to paintings. Finally, as learned painters broadened their talents by visiting Italy - the entire creative world unfolded with masterpieces.
