Day Five - Paris 2015 Musee Cognacq-Jay

In a beautiful hotel, listed historical monument (16th – 18th centuries) located in the heart of the Marais neighbourhood, the museum presents the art collections bequeathed to the City of Paris in 1928 by Ernest Cognacq, founder of the Samaritaine department stores, and his wife Marie-Louis Jay. We didn't like the museum all that much and wouldn't recommending making time for it. With the notable exception of an early painting by Rembrandt, most of the artwork on display dates back to the 18th century: paintings by Canaletto, Tiepolo, Boucher, Fragonard, Greuze, Reynolds and pastels by La Tour and Perronneau.
