Day Five Berlin - Sachsenhausen Memorial

It's always a challenge to post information about concentration camps. If close - I try to visit these memorials to pay my respect for those who suffered and were murdered. Walking around Sachsenhausen Memorial on a rainy day reminds me that I am fortunate and my concerns are really trivial.  Never again.

In 1933 - Oranienburg Concentration Camp was set up as the first concentration camp in the state of Prussia. In 1936, Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp was built and was the first new camp. It was designed as a model camp by an SS architect but turned out not to be duplicated. From 1945 to 1950, an additional camp was  added as a Soviet special camp to hold politically undesirable prisoners.
