Hong Kong - Day Five Wishing Tree
Located in the middle of the New Territories is the popular Wishing Tree. The original camphor tree has been replaced several times with others including the Hong Kong national bauhinia tree and now a banyan tree. Thousands flock to the tree for Chinese New Year's to write their wish on a red paper tied to an orange before tossing their wish into the tree's branches. An artificial tree is in use after wish ladened branches broke from the live banyan tree. It is cheesy and a whole lot of fun. If you are in a rush or just not that creative - they have quick check-the-box wishes for you to select.
