Day Seven Berlin - Parting Ways

Great trip to Berlin. After years of trying to make this trip - I am pleased to report that we were not disappointed. and probably waited too long. Like many places in the World - including the good ol' USA -  Germany continues to come to terms with the darker parts of its history. You have to admire and respect them for it.

We will come back to see more of this town and country. Until then - we part ways and leave a momento of our happiest moment - our wedding day - as a reminder of how much things have changed in the World.

Some random photos from to wrap up our adventure in Berlin.

Day Seven Berlin - Getting around

It took us some time to figure out the transportation system in Berlin - from trains, subway, trams and buses - the system has tons of options. A 17€ group ticket gave us day long access to any of the options.

Day Six Berlin - Neues Museum

Neues museum is filled with Middle East, Roman and Egyptian antiquities including the 3000 year bust of Queen Nefertiti (which you can't take photos).  You can make online reservations and the museum is open on Monday. The building was reconstructed with an eye on balancing new construction elements and the historical features of the building. I loved it. The original museum was built between 1843 and 1855 (listed as a UNESCO World Heritage structure) and refurbished from 2003 to 2009 by David Chipperfield.
