Time to start the long voyage home to the USA. It's been a fun, if not rainy, visit to Milan, Italy. We had plenty of fun during our whirlwind tour of the city.

Milan - Day 4, Duomo Museum

Adjacent to the Duomo - you will find its museum filled with original works from the church. Each are placed here for preservation and protection. You can buy a ticket to the Duomo, rooftop, archeological (roman) ruins and museum. Unfortunately, the archeological ruins were closed during our visit. Luckily, the museum let us except another round of thunderstorms and heavy rain.

Milan, Day 4 - Duomo Rooftop

One of the highlights of visiting the Duomo is touring the rooftop. The entire surface of the Duomo both inside and out is covered with marble. The quarry was willed to the Duomo to ensure future marble needs could be met. The rooftop is also marble and true to Gothic style reaches for heaven. It is amazing to walk amongst the spirals and statutes that adorn the rooftop.

Milan, Day 4 - Saint Ambrose

St. Ambrose Basilica was built in the beginning of 379 and is filled with mosaics. It is also home to the famous golden altar from between 824 to 860 A.D.
