Milan - Day 2, Chapel of St. Satiro

Basilica of San Satiro (879) expanded with the addition of the Church of St. Mary, completed between 1476 - 1482. The church is home to a celebrated miracle where a painting of Mary bled after a vandal cut her throat. The painting now sits above the high alter in the church. There was not enough room to create a cross-shaped chapel so the artist Donato Bramante created the illusion of another nave.
