Barcelona - Getting there

Before you can enjoy and experience a new place - you have to experience the joys (or woes) of getting there. Travelers today are faced with long lines, delays, poor customer service and failing airlines. Needless to say - traveling isn't for the timid or weak any more.

Our itinerary for Barcelona tested both the travel system and our road warrior skills. We arrived in Barcelona via JFK airport and a 5 hour layover. Basically we left the USA a full 12 hours after locking our back door and still faced a 8 hour flight across the Atlantic ocean.

Our DFW leg of the trip was on a newer 737. I do like some features on the 737 aircraft like the 110v power plugs that don't require an adapter and the drop down LCD video screens. Sadly - the loss of 2 / 3 row seats for 3 / 3 configuration is certain to add a stranger to your travel plans. Fortunate for us - our plane had more than enough vacant seats to fix this problem.

Our AA 767 aircraft and favorite coach seats in forward area (row 12) were fine. AA had sent a notice stating that power plugs on it's 767s had been turned off. Ours worked fine so my electronics are all charged up.

We landed in Barcelona on schedule at 10:30 am to a beautiful sunny day.
