Day One - Budapest

We love traveling to Europe and learning more about the various countries. This trip brings us to Budapest, Hungry. It takes a bit of work to get here from the USA. We caught direct flights from the USA to Heathrow International airport in London. Luckily - tailwinds are strong this time of year (90+ mph) so we arrive in about 9 hours. After a brief layover in London, we caught our British Airways (codeshare with American Airlines ) to Budapest airport. We arranged for a driver from the hotel - and sure enough he was waiting for us outside the arrivals area. After a 30 minute drive, we arrived at Hotel Palazzo Zichy , a small boutique hotel, in Budapest. Of course, this time of year the city is dark at 5 pm or so - and we have no idea how we got here. The hotel is in a quiet area South of the Jewish Quarter. The building is filled with character with many of the modern amenities that I prefer.

After a efficient check-in - we were unpacking in our rooms and finding a place to eat dinner. We decided on Matrjoska Bistro immediately outside our hotel on Palazzo Zichy. The owner is friendly and food is tasty. A perfect start to our adventure in Budapest.
