Vienna - Day One

We took a guided tour of the Albertina Museum's permanent collection of art today. The museum has a nice collection of Picasso, Modigliani, Monet and others. We were fortunate to have Constance, our private guide because the permanent collection was closed and works of art were being rehung in the space. So - it was kind of a behind the scenes tour of the museum also. Unfortunately, no pictures were allowed of the permanent collection.

The museum was the former home to Albert and Maria Christina (favorite daughter of Maria Theresa who allowed to marry for love) and gets it name from this famous couple.

The museum is also home to a new exhibition of David Katz, a former New Yorker. This 85 plus year old artist still lives and recently donated works to the museum for its permanent exhibition in his name.
